Facebook Class Action Lawsuit
A Canadian law firm has filed a Facebook class action lawsuit over privacy issues and mishandling of information on the social networking website www.facebook.com. It is alleged that Facebook did not protect privacy of users’ personal information and violated privacy rules. The lawsuit was filed this July 2010 in Winnipeg, Manitoba on behalf of a Winnepeg resident who is a registered Facebook user. It is alleged that Facebook used his personal information for commercial purposes, thereby breaching his privacy.
Other class action members have joined the Facebook Class Action Lawsuit, which seeks undisclosed damages for the alleged breach of privacy and mishandling of personal information. The case states that Facebook’s actions were oppressive, malicious, and deliberate and that it conducted acts of deceit. The filings also claim that actions by Facbook caused the plaintiffs to suffer injury, economic loss, and damages, which they continue to suffer. They accuse Facbook of a cavalier attitude when it comes to privacy and members’ personal information.
A letter was sent to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, signed by as many as ten privacy groups, asking the creator of the most popular social networking website to institute changes in the site. The changes would result in more user control over personal data.

I would like to be advised how to get involved in the Facebook ‘Like’ class action lawsuit. My granddaughter is a minor who has used the ‘Like’ buttons. I would appreciate any information you can send me.
Thank you.
